New Delhi, July 02:
With the Centre's ceasefire with NSCN-IM coming to an end on July 31, the Government today held a high-level meeting to review the security situation in Nagaland.
The meeting was chaired by Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and was attended by National Security Adviser M K Narayanan, Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta, Intelligence Bureau chief P C Haldar.
Centre's interlocutor for Naga talks K Padmanabhaiah was also present in the meeting.
Sources said the Centre was of the opinion that a solution to the decades-old Naga problem had to be find out within the constitutional framework.
The NSCN-IM has been insisting on a separate constitution for its envisioned 'Nagalim', though the Centre has ruled out such an entity.
They said that the Centre might give more autonomy but it would be done only as per the provisions of the Constitution.
NSCN-IM leaders have been pressing for an early solution to the problem.
