Kohima, Jun 01: Unidentified gunmen today gunned down Education Kilonser of the FGN, Mar Jamir, at a place below Mao Market, BOC area in Kohima at around 3.20 pm today.

The FGN leader was about 53 years of age and hailed from Longmisa village and was camping in the Peace Camp at Kohima Village till his assassination.

Police sources, quoting eye-witnesses, informed Newmai News Network that after a chase, the gunmen fired three shots at the FGN kilonser, one of which hit him in the chest and one in the left leg while one of the bullets missed.

He died on the spot.

A single empty shell of 9 mm was recovered from the scene of the crime, police said adding the victim's body was later taken by relatives for last rites and burial.
