The 41st general conference of All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) which commenced on January 28 at GP Women's College concluded today.
The closing function was graced by Pro Vice Chancellor of Manipur University H Nandakumar and AMSU president Birendra Chingakham as chief guest and president respectively.
The five day long residential conference featured speeches on myriad topics by resource persons and experts, cleanliness drive at Kekrupat and Pishum Chinga Macha and awareness programme on HIV/AIDS.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Nandakumar remarked that AMSU had successfully participated in many movements related to major issues of the State.
The student body has been striving with dedication for a social change in the State, he said.
The valedictory function was also attended by vice-president of All Assam Manipuri Students' Union S Herajit, secretary-in-charge of BSEM L Rajmohan, former presidents of AMSU S Budhi, L Dillip and L Saratchandra as guests of honour.
The general conference concluded after a number of resolutions were adopted on several issues including formulation of new State Education Policy, continuation of the campaign against AFSPA, incorporation of human rights related topics in school, college and university syllabus, abolition of Protected Area Permit/Restricted Area Permit System in Manipur and implementation of the agreement signed between Govt of Manipur and AMSU on November 9, 2005 regarding influx of outsiders.
Implementation of a uniform land law all over the State, formulation of State cultural policy and regional demographic policy and preservation of territorial integrity and unity of the State were some other resolutions adopted during the conference.
