Keeping in view of the large section of the population below Poverty Line and lack of health care facilities in rural and remote areas which cause many conveniences and hardships to the people particularly women concerning pre and post natal care, today's meet held to commemorate Interantional Women's Day stressed on the urgency of women education and their health care.
In the meets organised by Citizens Volunteer Training Centre (CVTC) at Lilong Chajing centre, Hiyangthang centre and Andro centre under the theme 'Women in Decision Making; Meeting Challenges, Creating Change', the villagers expressed their primary concern for education of their children and to ensure proper functioning of PHCs.
In a press meet held today at the office of CVTC, its project director, Santa Elangbam admitted the importance of health care and education schemes launched by the Government for the impoverished people.
In the meet organised at the three different centres mentioned above, many SHGs of the localities established with the help of CVTC attended and celebrated International Women's Day for 10 days in row, he mentioned.
Consultation and discussion with the Self Help Groups on women empowerment was the main feature of the meets, he disclosed .
They also resolved to appeal to the State Government through the Panchayat and local MLAs to ensure modern educational and health care facilities to the people.
