Imphal, March 25:
To ease the rapidly congesting traffic and streamline movement of vehicles especially the thickly populated imphal areas the state Govt is all set to revamp parking slots in the capital district.
According to an official source the main emphasis would be on rearrangement of existing parking sites as well as establishment of new bus terminus in the vicinity of the capital city in addition to the States concerted effort to expand road width in and around Imphal, including the National Highways that pass through the capital area.
As part of the parking slot rearrangement current passenger bus stations like at Keishampat and Wahengbam Leikai would be shifted to the citys outskirts as these places are assumed to be the main impediment to smooth traffic flow, highlighted the source.
Explaining that road width drive is very much relevant to envisioned plan of Imphal township expansion, the source reasoned that once the ring road plan could be implemented and some bus terminus had been shifted to the citys outskirts traffic congestion problems could be addressed to a large extent.
Disclosing Government plan to upgrade existing porompat and chingmeirong bus terminuses as another facet to cater to demand of ever-growing traffic volume, the source conveyed of State authorities scouring for convenient sites at Keithelmanbi area to establish a new bus terminus.
