Imphal, January 23: Professor C Amuba of the Department of Physics of Manipur University has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the varsity following the resignation of Dr N Bijoy after MU was upgraded to the status of a Central University.

Professor Amuba is the first person from Manipur to enter the Bhaba Atomic Research Centre and topped the 11th batch.

He later joined the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research as a Research Associate in 1968 and later shifted base to the then Jawaharlal Study Centre in Imphal.

61 years old, the new VC said that academic development is his priority.
