Imphal, June 11: Reacting to the Imphal Municipal Council Chairperson Moirangjao Kabui accusing members of the opposition of misconduct resulting in �forcible� postponement of the no confidence motion, the united Councillors Front, IMC termed the allegation reported in State dailies as baseless and concocted.

Elaborating on the no confidence motion discussion held yesterday the Front contended that substantial time was given to the ruling block to reply on the motion but the Chairperson did not budge from his position of preferring silence than utter a single word on the motion.

As the Chairperson and the ruling side were non-committal on the house rule of no confidence motion procedures, vice chairperson P Shitaljit, who chaired the motion inquired whether Moirangjao Kabui�s silence could be interpreted as acceptance of the opposition charge of office rule misconduct.

Reacting to Shitaljit�s query the ruling group raised hue and cry but were nevertheless reluctant to discuss the no-confidence constraining the vice chairperson to embark on entertaining decision of the house members to provide more time to the ruling side to which the Opposition side endorsed with an overwhelming majority, the Front mentioned.

As the opposition with overwhelming majority endorsed the vice chairperson�s proposal the motion was subsequently postponed for further deliberation on June 20, it said negating the Chairperson�s allegation of the opposition stalling the house procedure and forcing postponement.
