Imphal, February 07: The Gauhati High Court, Imphal bench has today quashed two orders passed by the Additional District Judge (Fast Track Court), Manipur East that referred original suits filled before it to the Lok Adalat for settlement between the kins of Heirangoithong massacre victims and the CRPF authorities.

Justice T Nandakumar Singh, in his Imphal Bench sitting pronounced the verdict today after keeping it reserved since February 3 following seven writ petitions filed by the Union of India and the CRPF authorities.

At least 13 civilians were killed on March 14, 1984 after personnel of 55 Bn CRPF made several rounds of firing during a volley ball match at Naoriya Pakhanglakpa volley ball ground at Heirangoithong.

For claiming compensation, a number of civil suits including original suits were filed by the legal representatives of those civilians killed in the firing, said case dossiers.

While the civil suit was pending before the Additional District Judge (Fast Tract Court), Manipur East, the representatives filed applications for referring the suits to the Lok Adalat.

The Fast Tract Court had on different dates � December 23 and 31, 2002 allowed the prayer of the representatives thereby referring the civil suits to the Lok Adalat.
