Imphal, September 06: Describing demands placed by the All Manipur Muslim Students� Organisation as genuine Ngangou Bazar Development Committee (Lilong) called upon social and youth organisations as well as every section of the Manipuri society to extend support to the 48 hour general strike beginning from September 12 midnight.

Expressing strong resentment at the O Ibobi led SPF Government for ignoring the genuine outcry of the Muslim community for governmental patronage in overcoming economic disparities the Committee rued that State authorities seldom respect popular sentiment until agitational steps are applied to point out grievances.

The Muslim community of the State had been a tolerant group hardly seeking State Govt sympathy only for the Muslims but asking for protection of rights (reservation) to enable Muslim candidates reach the top echelon of the State administrations should not be misinterpreted as relying solely on quota to compete with other more advanced community, explained the Committee.
