DESAM holds Ministers responsible for agitation

Imphal, April 01: Asserting that the ongoing agitation for implementation of Meetei Mayek in the State is an out burst of public's anger that has been burning inside for the last 200 years, DESAM today stated that Ministers in the Congress led SPF Govt should be held responsible for all the violence and destruction that, has come in the wake of the agitation launched by the Mayek activists.

In a statement, DESAM secretary general said that the ongoing agitation for implementing the Meetei Mayek is right in every manner as the people have the right to know and learn their own script and further stated that O Ibobi led SPF Govt was making a grave mistake in trying to sideline the issue by trying to blame the ongoing agitation to a handful of Meetei Mayek activists.

Stating that apathy of the Govt towards the demand of Mayek activists have not only resulted in large-scale violence but have also caused a lot of inconvenience to hundreds of people, the secy warned that agitation will only intensify and worsen the volatile law and order situation if the Govt still continue to remain indifferent to the demand of the Mayek activists.
