Hindustani vocalists SCR Bhat and Ramashrey Jha and Carnatic singers SV Parthasarathy and PS Narayanaswamy have been named for this year's Sangeet Natak Akademi awards.
They will be among 33 artistes/scholars selected for the honour that symbolises highest standards of excellence and outstanding accomplishments, an official statement said today.
Brijbhushan Kabra for Hindustani guitar, Tulsidas Borkar for Hindustani harmonium, Ongolo Rangayya for Carnatic Nadaswaram and VV Subramanyam for Carnatic violin have also been named for the award in the instrument category.
Bharatnatyam dancer Radha and Kathak exponent Tirath Ram Azad will receive the honour in the dance category along with Mathur Govindan Kutty for Kathakali, K Radhamohon Sharma for Manipuri, Korada Narasimha Rao for Kuchipudi and Durga Charan Ranbir for Odissi, the statement said.
Th Chaotombi Singh will get the award for his skills in creative and experimental dance and Josyula Krishnamurthi for music for dance.
Theatre artiste Ajmer Singh Aulakh will receive the award for Punjabi playwriting, Dabashish Majumdar for Bengali play-writing, Ranjit Kapoor and V K Sharma for direction and Chindhodi Leela for acting, the statement said.
In allied theatre arts, HV Sharma has been named for the honour for stagecraft, Suresh Bhardwaj for lighting and R Paramashivan for theatre music.
Pratibha Agarwal will receive the Akademi award for overall contribution to performing arts, the statement said.In the category of traditional, folk, tribal dance, music, theatre and puppetry, the entries include P K G Nambiar for Kuttiyattam of Kerala, Subbu Arumugam for Villupattu of Tamil Nadu, Kashi Nath Pujapanda for Odissi music of Orissa and Babu Bhai Ranpura for folk music of Gujarat.
Khirod Khaklari will receive the award for his skills in Bodo dance and music of Assam, Daryao Singh Mallik for folk theatre of Haryana, DS Aiyyelu for dance costume and Ganpat Sakharam Mhesge for puppetry of Maharashtra.
The award carries a purse money of Rs 50,000.
