Imphal, April 29: The first round of meeting between the representatives of the Jiribam District Demand Committee and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh towards resolving the demand for upgrading Jiribam Sub-division to a full-fledged revenue district was held today.

Following an understanding reached during the meeting which was also attended by Jiribam local MLA Th Debendra, the Demand Committee has suspended its April 30 deadline for launching an agitation till June 2.The JDDC has been demanding the upgradation of Jiri to a full fledged revenue district since last year after the Centre agreed to the upgradation.
