Imphal, December 28:
Amid report of crackdowns and campaigns against sale and consumption of alcohol by several organisations, a man in his forties collapsed and died adjacent to a drinking joint consequently resulting in infuriated womenfolk dismantling the joint.
The deceased identified as Kshetrimayum Dhojo alias Rajen s/o (L) Bheigya of Awang Leikinthabi Makha Leikai under Sekmai police station was drinking at the said joint along with one haobam Iboyaima (40) of Leikinthabi.
While Iboyaima left on a bicycle Dhojo continued drinking, said local sources adding that the latter collapsed and died besides the drinking joint at around 9 pm yesterday.
The drinking joint is located at the entrance gate of one Khangembam Kumar (43) s/o (L) Ibohal of Awang Leikinthabi.
Kumar reportedly carried Dhojo's lifeless body to the latter's residence.
Local womenfolk accusing Kumar of not informing the family before he died dismantled the drinking joint.
Kumar has been arrested by police and the victim's body handed over to family members after post mortem at RIMS morgue today.
