After undertaking a series of phase wise agitation in Ukhrul district, the Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong, TKS has warned today that anything can happen in next few days in the district as there has been no response from the State Government.
TKS general secretary RS Jolyson informed NNN today that its agitation in the last several days in Ukhrul district were mild ones but from today onwards, the agitation will be intensified during which anything can happen.
The TKS leader said that the State Government should bear responsibilities for any untoward incident in the district.
The TKS has been agitating to register their anguish over the nonfunctional Minor Irrigation Department, Tribal Development offices and other vital departments in the district.
The TKS today demanded power decentralisation of the Tribal Development Department, Minor Irrigation Department, Education and others saying that crores of rupees have been misused from the State capital itself while nothing had been done in the Ukhrul district of which the money were meant for the development of the district.
The TKS demanded transfer of Chief Engineer of Minor Irrigation immediately and initiation of stern action against the corrupt officer under the law of the land.
More than Rs 6 crores have been misused in minor irrigation projects meant for Ukhrul district as per the document made available by the TKS.
According to the Tangkhul students body, the amount to be used in constructing various projects have been withdrawn without executing any work.
