Maring Naga Baptist Association has dubbed the report of a feud between Catholics and Baptists on May 15 at Kwarok village as baseless.
In a statement, Assn executive secretary Rev T Modungkhul clarified that the incident took place among the villagers on account of violation of local autonomy bye-laws regarding the establishment of other Church in the same locality where other Church already exist.
So the matter has not been insisted by any other Church organisations like Baptist Church of MNBA contrary to what was published in the news report.
Moreover, there is no such Church or Pechi Maring village and there was no incident of burning down of four Churches as claimed in the news report.
The incident took place not between the Baptist and the Catholic, but due to some vested interested elements of the locality which violated the local autonomy bye-laws of Kwarok Maring village, the statement asserted, adding that Church of Maring Naga Baptist Assn has no bye-laws/restrictions to any other religions or individuals who want to embrace any religion.
