Two employees of the Airtel phone service have been abducted allegedly by an underground group demanding a ransom of Rs 1 crore from the phone service provider.
The abducted persons have been identified as Manager of Click Communication, Kh Joychandra (48), and Field Sales Executive Th Oken (33).Both of them are the residents of Singjamei, Imphal.
According to Joychandra's daughter, her father and Oken had been missing since December 17 morning.
On the non-returning of the two, the family members had started enquiring their whereabouts which was later established that owing to the monetary demand of rupees 1 crore from the phone service company allegedly by a militant outfit, the two Airtel employees had been abducted by the outfit, stated Joychandra's daughter.
Meanwhile, the womenfolk of Singjamei staged a sit-in-protest condemning the abduction of the two Airtel employees.
The womenfolk staging sit-in-protest cautioned that they would prohibit the selling of Airtel sim cards in their locality if the abducted employees are not released safe at the earliest.
They demanded the safe release of the two abducted employees and also accused Airtel for bargaining the human soul with money.
