An office building for the All Tribal Handicapped Students' Association was inaugurated today at Noney by Tamenglong DC T Panmei.
The inaugural function was opened with a welcome song presented by visually handicapped students in honour of chief guest T Panmei.
Taking advantage of the DC's presence, they appealed to the State Government to build a workshed for themselves, and to provide them tools so that they can engage themselves in self-employment activities.
They also demanded some musical instruments.
In response, DC T Panmei assured all possible help from the side of State Government towards construction of a workshed.
Later, the DC also opened a workshop on "The Students and the Society" organised by the Rongmei Students' Organisation, Noney area.
Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of the workshop held at Noney Bazar, Panmei highlighted the importance of students setting goals at childhood and to pursue the same until it is realised and to choose their career according to their own aptitude and choice.
Realisation of a goal does not depend on the type of goals students set but on the dedication and hard-work of the students, he asserted.
The workshop participated by many students of Noney area was also addressed by Dr Benjamin on the topic "Role of students in the society".
