Imphal, May 26:
Casting serious aspersion on the results of HSLC exam 2006 declared today, the AISF alleged that the credibility of the results is doubtful in view of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur chairman's involvement in the mark tempering issue in Class XII exam of 2000 when he was secretary of the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur.
The All Manipur Students' Union has also been demanding removal of A Sarat Kumar from the post of chairman of BSEM for his involvement in mark tempering of his own daughter in 2000.At a press meet at Irabot Bhavan today, secretary of AISF Manipur State Council Kh Inaobi noted that it is most unfortunate for the whole student community to appoint Sarat Kumar as chairman of BSEM even after he was removed from being secretary of Council of Higher Sesondary Education, Manipur as he was found guilty by an inquiry committee for tempering marks of his own daughter.
He disclosed that sit-in-protest would be staged in front of BSEM's office besides mobilizing students of schools under the Board against the chairman so as to bring about a clean and transparent education in the State after the removal of Sarat Kumar from his present post.
Inaobi asserted that Sarat Kumar was instrumental in tempering marks of five subjects for his own daughter thereby enabling her to secure 13th position under roll number 24359 in the Science stream of HSSLC exam of 2000.To conceal the fault play, only the first 10 position holders were declared that year against the normal practices of publishing all the first 20 position holders every year.
When all the first 20 position holders were declared later after strong pressure from public, her daughter was found securing the 13th position raising strong suspicion of fault play, recounted the AISF leader.
Under such attitude of the State Government of upholding corrupted officials, the credibility of the authority concerned for fairness remains highly questionable pertaining to appointment of Arts and Science graduate teachers under the Department of Education (S), Government of Manipur remarked Inaobi.
