The All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) is all set to intensify its anti-drug drive as it is undertaking a special inspection tour of rice and tea hotels.
Moreover, the behaviour and attitude of girls would be put under a strict surveillance.
About 800 litres of liquor and tablets seized by AMADA since April 21 were consigned to flames today at Hodam Leirak junction of Tidim Road.
Speaking to reporters secretary general of AMADA's Imphal West District Council S Keilani Leima disclosed that the 800 litres of liquor were seized from Maisnam Bibi of Kwakeithel Moirang Purel, owner of SP hotel Khomdram Open and Irom Nongyai of Sagolband Salam Leikai.
Acting on information that tablet abusers loiter around tea hotels, three tablet abusers were pulled up from Unique Food of Sega Road, Jailor Leirak.
They are identified as Thokchom Shitaljit of Keishampat Laimajam Laikai, Yumkhaibam Sanjoy of Kwakeithel Moirang Purel and Sorenshang bam Theba of Keishamthong Top Leirak.
Keilani conveyed that these hotels from which the liquor and tablets were seized have been banned for a month.
Moreover, one Akhom Herojit of Keishamthong Thouda Babhok Leikai was apprehended by AMADA yesterday night along with 320 pieces of tablets.
And another 144 pieces of tablets were seized from one Takhellambam Naoba of Sega Road Tekhallambam Leikai today, mentioned Keilani.
Following the seizure of liquor and tablets from tea and rice hotels, a special drive against these hotels would be launched soon, she said while adding that the apprehended drug abusers were handed over to respective families after being reprimanded.
On the other hand, a drunk woman identified as Chabungbam Nungshithoi of Taothong Mayai Leikai nabbed by Meira Paibis of Tera Loukrakpam Leikai and Uripok Achom Leikai was handed over to AMADA, Keilani informed.
Disclosing that AMADA have information regarding consumption of liquor of women and abuse of drugs by young girls, a strict scrutiny would be conducted against the behaviour and attitude of girls, said Keilani.
