PHE Minister TN Haokip has inau gurated three more water supply plants today, this time in different areas of Thoubal district.
TN Haokip was the chief guest and local MLA Moirangthem Hemanta was the president of the inaugural functions held at Kairenbikhok and Langathel.
The two water supply plants located within Wangjing-Tentha Assembly constituency was taken up with funding from NLCPR.
Another water supply plant was inaugurated by TN Haokip at Chairen within Sugnu Assembly Constituency where Works Minister K Ranjit was the president.
Speaking at the inaugural functions, TN Haokip highlighted the possible impacts of extensive lumbering and clearing forest areas.
He also called upon the people to launch an extensive tree plantation campaign.
He said that tree plantation drive can mitigate the current global issues of climate change and water shortage.
Hemanta stressed on the need to preserve water which is not a non-exhaustible resource.
At Chairen, Ranjit pointed out that water supply plants are dependent on electricity.
He appealed to the people to do away with the inclination of not paying electricity bills.
The water supply plant at Kairenbikhok was built at the cost of Rs 48.73 lakhs.
It can provide potable water to 2790 people.
The total cost of the Langathel water supply plant was Rs 52.39 lakhs.
It can supply potable water to 6725 people of the area.
