Kongpal youth's death: Public meet rusticates family

Imphal, August 24 2011: A public meeting held today at Pebam Mandop has unanimously resolved to socially boycott and rusticate Kshetrimayum Bimolata and her entire family from the locality with immediate effect.

According to a statement issued by Eastern Youths' Constructive Association, Kongpal Porompat 2nd Road, the public meeting attended by women activists and youth organisations, was convened against the comment of Bimolata in some State dailies wherein she hinted at involvement of some local youths in the killing of one Ksh Gobind Singh of Kongpal Chanam Leikai on August 20 night.

Disagreeing with Bimolata's contention that she saw Gobind being beaten up on the fateful night by some locals, the Association release said as the incident took place late in the night no locals were aware of it.

Charging Bimolata of attempting to shield her family members, including her husband, and laying the blame on the local youths, the meeting also concluded that as Bimolata and her family members claimed to have witnessed the crime the entire truth could be ascertained only through interrogation of the Kshetrimayum family residing in Kongpal Kshetri Leikai.

When the locals came out upon hearing clanking of electric poles it was about an hour past midnight (1 am of August 21) during which the locals were told that an unidentified person has fallen into the river (Iril).

Meanwhile, a statement issued by JAC formed in connection with the death of Ksh Gobind ridiculed Bimolata's contemplation that Gobind might have committed suicide by smashing own head and other body parts.

Moreover, who was/were witness to Bimolata's claim that the incident was reported to Porompat police station, the JAC posed with regard to the her contention that inspite of being informed the police declined to note or ascertain the matter on the same night.

Pointing out that Porompat police station has denied any knowledge on the incident contrary to Bimolata's claim, the JAC demand that she identify volunteers/members of the local club who went to report to the police station concerned.

On Bimolata's contention that Govind's family insisted on launching the search at daybreak, the JAC opined that no parent would prefer in delaying search of their children when told that he/she had fallen into the river.

If Bimolata could provide evidence to proof whatever comments she made through the dailies the JAC would not only be disbanded but will also asked the victim's family to accept Gobind's death as an unfortunate incident, it maintained while asking the police to pull up Bimolata for questioning as she had claimed to have witnessed the entire events leading to the demise of Ksh Gobind.
