As part of the ongoing anti-drug drive being launched under the aegis of All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA), volunteers of AMADA Pheidinga Local Council and local Meira Paibis rounded up a Bihari who supplies Raja Khaini from Pheidinga area today afternoon.
According to a statement issued by deputy secretary, drive committee of AMADA Mayai Loisang K Sushila Chanu, the rounded up Raja Khaini supplier is identified as Raju Tele (20) s/o Ramji Prasad of Bihar but presently staying at Paona Bazar.
24,000 pieces of Raja Khaini have been reportedly seized from his possession and the total estimated cost of the seizure in the local market is said to be around Rs 72,000. During the course of interrogation, it has been established that the seized Raja Khaini have been procured from another person identified as Rajesh Pandey who has been supplying Raja Khaini, Talab, Khaini Kouta, etc in a big way from Kangpokpi Keithel, the statement said.
Raju Tele further disclosed that the consignment of the Raja Khaini was meant for supplying and selling in and around Paona Bazar and Dharmashala area of Imphal, the statement added.
The seized Raja Khaini have been destroyed by setting them on fire in the presence of the people at Pheidinga, the statement informed, while asking Rajesh Pandey to surrender to AMADA Mayai Loishang within February 24.
