Altogether 13,824 number of SP capsules and 540 N-10 tablets were seized from an individual by Imphal West Narcotic Cell from near LMS Law College, Chingmeirong at about 4 pm yesterday.
The drug pedlar identified as Md Samir (21) s/o Sanayai of Sora Maning Leikai was paraded before media persons at the office of Imphal West Narcotic Cell this morning.
Officer in-charge of the Narcotic Cell W Ibocha said that Imphal West Narcotic Cell, under supervision of Imphal SSP L Kailun, has been preparing to launch drives in different areas with the objective to check extensive abuse of drugs in the run up to the Yaoshang festival.
In the meantime, specific input that illegal drugs were arriving at Chingmeirong Khongnang Ani Karak was received, he said.
Anti-narcotic sleuths observed a suspicious looking youth with an air bag slung over his shoulder near LMS Law College at about 4 pm.
While frisking the youth, a large number of SP capsules and N-10 tablets were seized from the youth, later identified as Md Samir.
On further questioning, Md Samir disclosed that the seized drugs belonged to one Md Ibothem (31) s/o Md Nizamuddin of Sora Maning Leikai, said OC Ibocha adding that more anti-drug drives would be launched to save youth from the jaws illegal narcotic drugs.
