IM cadres turn back lone oil tanker from Noney

Information received from the IOC Operations and Sales office at Imphal said that of the 10 oil tankers, the one which was driving ahead of the rest was stopped by some armed cadres of NSCN (IM) near the Noney bridge and demanded to know whether 'tax' has been paid.
When replied in the negative, the armed cadres took down some of the spare tyres and forced the oil tanker to return to Imphal with the warning not to come that way without paying Rs 30,000 .
On its return journey, the oil tanker came across the others coming behind it and recounted the incident.
Subsequently, all the 10 oil tankers came back to Imphal together.
They arrived at Imphal sometime between 1.30 pm and 2 pm, the source informed, adding that it is yet to be decided when the oil tankers would leave to lift fuel.
The oil tankers left from Imphal along the National Highway 53 today following police assurance that the line is clear and nothing would happen, the source disclosed.

An oil tanker which had left Imphal along National Highway 53 (Imphal-Jiribam road) to lift fuel was reportedly intercepted by armed cadres of NSCN (IM) near the bridge at Noney and forced to return after confiscating a spare tyre with the warning that they cannot pass through unless they cough up Rs 30,000 .
Following the decision taken during a joint meeting of the officials of IOC drawn from the Head office, Mumbai and State office, Guwahati; Chief Secretary and DGP of Manipur on Tuesday last, 10 oil tankers left from Imphal today along the National Highway 53 to lift fuel.
