In accordance to the Prime Minister's 15-point programme for the welfare of minority Muslims, survey of the properties of the State Wakf Board would be conducted and steps taken up for modernisation of 12 madrasas in Manipur.
According to an official source, the State Level Monitoring Committee with Chief Secretary as chairman during a recent meeting decided to conduct a survey of the properties of the Wakf Board as part of the implementation of the Prime Minister's 15-point programme for the welfare of the minority Muslims.
The meeting held in the first week of the current month and attended by Principal Secretary (MOBC), Commissioner (IPR), Commissioner (Revenue), Commissioner (Social Welfare), Commissioner (Labour and Employment) among others entrusted the Revenue Department to conduct the survey within the month of August and submit the necessary draft report to the MOBC.
The meeting also discussed submission of the action taken report (ATR) of all the works taken up by various Departments in connection with the programme within August 31.
Furthermore, the meeting of the Monitoring Committee discussed the areas to be identified for the modernisation process of 12 madrasas in accordance to the recommendation of the National Education Policy, 1986 after being looked into by a responsible officer of the Education Dept (S).
Apart from exerting pressure on the Central Government for implementation of the proposal of the Labour Department for setting up one ITI each at Thoubal, Lilong and Imphal East, the meeting also decided on inclusion of representatives from minority communities in the selection process of beneficiaries of the various welfare programmes to be taken up.
