Imphal, May 17:
The National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO) in association with the Sadar Hills Chiefs' Association (SHCA) will be touring villages under Sadar Hills with the objective to extend all possible aid to these backward villages.
Speaking to reporters today, SHCA president Nakholan Chongloi asserted that even as the Sadar Hills is not far away from Imphal, most of the villages in this area remain quite backward with no modern civic amenities.
On the other hand, the village chiefs have been accused of usurping all the development schemes and benefits meant for the common people, he noted.
To address the existing dismal picture as far as development is concerned, SHCA in association with NIPCO has made all preparations to launch a campaign, he informed.
Detailing on the proposed campaign, NIPCO president Yumnam Nabachandra maintained that NIPCO has been extending aid to remote villages of hill districts under the objective of restoring harmony and bringing equitable development.
Under the initiative of SHCA, NIPCO would SHCA would make joint tour of the villages in Sadar Hills to look into woes of the villagers regarding communication infrastructure, health care facilities, education infrastructure and other areas.
After the inspection, NIPCO will carcass endeavour to provide all possible aid to mitigate the plight of the villagers, stated Nabachandra.
SHCA general secretary EK Kipgen alleged that the Government treats Sadar Hills as step-children.
To establish villages in this area has been a difficult task as most of the people settling here are villagers displaced during the ethnic conflict, he observed.
Stating that there are about 700 village chiefs in Sadar Hills, he clarified that there is no question of biasness on the part of SHCA.
