For the third time, All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) has distributed a large number of vessels used in brewing liquor which had been confiscated from various places during the anti-liquor drive at a simple function held at its head office today.
The beneficiaries include Meetei National front, Soibam Leikai; Model Club, Chinga Makha, Regional Academy of Youths and Students, Kwakta; Manipur Brothers� Sporting Union, Wahengbam Leikai; Late Ibomcha Memorial Boarding Centre, Ningthoukhong; Pole Star Club, Ithing; Sendra Youth Club, Thanga Part-II and Ima Phouoibi Lairembi, Ithai.
All the vessels which have been distributed today are said to have been seized by the volunteers of AMADA Thoubal District Council, Bishnupur District Coucil, Ithai Unit, Ithing Unit and Sendra Unit from people who were found brewing illicit liquor despite restriction imposed during the anti-liquor drive launched since November 16, 2006. In 117 vessels of various sizes have been distributed among the social organisations today.
So far 163 confiscated vessels have been reportedly distributed among various social organisations.
A horse which was handed over to the custody of AMADA Head-office after the volunteers of AMADA Khabi Local Council found it being used by bootleggers for transporting illicit liquor on October 13, 2006 had also been handed over to the office bearers of Regional Academy of Youths and Students today.
Illicit liquor seized: During a random search of vehicles, a mobile vehicle check post of 22 Maratha Light Infantry seized 150 litres of country made illicit liquor from an autorickshaw at Salam today and destroyed in situ in the presence of Meira Paibis, informed PRO Assam Rifles.
