The 10th Science Meet, 2005 being organised by Manipur Science and Technology Council (MASTEC) at Khuman Lampak Main stadium since May 11 in commemoration of the International and Science Day concluded today.
Commissioner of Science and Technology, Government of Manipur MA Sattar, Director of Science and Technology IS Laishram and Executive Director of MASTEC Th Surendranath graced the valedictory function of the five-day long Science Meet as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Organised under the theme of �Nurture nature for out future�, with the main objective of providing a common platform to all the students, science lovers and scientists to further the cause of science popularisation in Manipur, the event was sponsored by the National Council of Science, Technology and Communication which is under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
Apart from the exhibition of science models, various activities like science gallery (interactive models, mathematics Lab, science on stamp, etc), competition on quiz, essay writing, declamation, painting, science behind miracles, puppet show, face to face with distinguished science, brain storming session, scientific film shows and science dramas were the other highlights of the science meet.
It is said that from next year emphasised would also be on made spreading awareness on endangered species and plants found in Manipur.
Representatives of other science bodies like Science Teachers Forum, Manipur; Manipur Association for promotion of Science� Manipur Science Communication Association, Generation De; New Image and MASTEC which a take part in organising the Science Meet also read out the reports on the activities conducted by them.
Presidium members also distributed prizes to the winners of various competition held as part of the meet like Quiz, Essay writing, drawing competition, declamation and science model competition.
