Lamka, Jul 11:
State unit of the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) president V Hangkhanlian yesterday informed the media community here that his newly floated party is certain of securing atleast 10 Assembly seats in the forthcoming election.
Outlining the various initiative of his party in addressing the hardship of the local population especially in the light of landslides hindering all communications through Guite Road, the ousted president of NCP said works for clearing the roads were initiated after he met commissioner (works) on July 5 and a contractor entrusted to do the needful; thus denying the claims of some individual that the works were carried on charitable ground without state sanction.
Asked whether he was conceding defeat by switching his constituency, Hangkhanlian argued that he was doing the same only for the sake of peace within the community as contesting the election from the same constituency will only led to groupism within the community and even effect the images of churches, as was the case in the previous elections.
'There will be some one favourable who will win even in my absence', he said with the tone of zeal.
BSP being a party based on minority communities works for the upliftment of the same, the former cabinet minister said, 'it certainly will have a convincing debut during the assembly election' he adds.
