Stepping up its ongoing drive, All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) has destroyed narcotic substances worth around Rs 70,000 it had seized during drive launched at Paona Bazar area yesterday by setting them on fire in front of the Forest Gate at Top Moirangkampu today.
The seized narcotic substances that were destroyed today include 2704 packets of Raja Khaini, 3240 pieces of Can Khaini and 720 packets of Zarda including 150 small sachets and 460 large sachets.
The seizure was made from during a raid conducted based on specific information at a rented room located behind Usha Cinema hall.
During the course of interrogation, the occupant of the rented room identified as Jay Ram (28) s/o Shiv Bhajan of Bihar disclosed that the banned narcotic items brought from Kangpokpi after having paid necessary payment to his younger brother identified as Hare Ram (20).AMADA has also rounded up another person identified as Sunil Shah who had gone along with the two brothers to bring back the consignment.
On the other hand, AMADA Hatta Golapati Local Council has pulled up three persons who are drug peddlers as well as abusers.
They are identified as Moirangthem Ratan Singh (37) s/o late Moirang Ningthou of Khurai Ahongei, Md Mustad Sangomshangbam (35) s/o late Rahamad of Hatta Man Ingkhol and Inaocha Begum (37) w/o Majui of Kairang.
Inaocha Begum was arrested along with four pieces of Heroin powder and syringes.
She is said to be peddling drugs as well as abusing the same.
Her elder sister identified as Jahali Begum (42) w/o late Liyaqat Ali of Soibam Leikai is also said to a drug peddler.
Jahali Begum has been asked to surrender and come to the head office of AMADA within January 12.
