Imphal, November 04: The message is loud and clear 'Donate Blood ! Save a Life ! And Win a Prize !.

This is precisely what the IRB recruits who are undergoing training at the Manipur Police Training School (MPTS), Pangei are going to do over the past few days.

Apart from their contribution to the noble cause of saving human lives by donating their precious blood, they can also expect to win some fabulous prizes like Refrigerator, Genset, Portable CTV, DVD player, Emergency Lamp among other.

The event is being facilitated jointly by Manipur State AIDS Control Society (MACS), Director of MPTS and Dynamic Gym and Social Welfare Association (DGSWA) Thangmeiband.

Around 150 recruits donated their blood on the first day of the blood donation camp which began from today along with an awareness programme on HIV/AIDS.

Through a lucky draw which is to be held exclusively for the donor recruits after the end of the camp which is to go on till November 7 and 8, some of the recruits can also win the prizes.

According to Meghachandra Thiyam, president of DGSWA, which is sponsoring the prizes of the lucky draw which include Refrigerator, Genset, Portable CTV, DVD player, Emergency Lamp among other, in all 150 recruits donated their blood on the first day of the camp today.

It is expected that over 500 recruits would be donating their blood by the end of the camp either on November 7 or 8, he said, adding that around 850 recruits donated their blood during a similar camp last year.

The lucky draw to be held exclusively for the donor recruits at the end of the camp would be conducted in a very healthy manner, Meghachandra assured.

Along with appointment of DGP Y Joykumar as the nodal officer of HIV/AIDS Programme of the State Police, DGSWA has been selected as one of the NGO partners for implementation of the programme, Meghachandra said.

Project Director of MACS Dr TR Kom, Additional SP of the Training School, DSP and other officials participated in the HIV/AIDS awareness programme held at the recreation hall of the training school.

In the morning session of the programme, Head of Department of Microbiology, RIMS Dr Ng Brajachand and Consultant of WHO Arun Nepram, as resource persons, imparted knowledge on the issue of HIV/AIDS to the recruits of 5 IRB.

Volunteers of DKT Initiatives also presented demonstration on using condom at the occasion.

In the afternoon session, subject experts and resource persons imparted similar knowledge to the recruits of 6 IRB.
