Lamka, Sep 03:
The Manipur Hills Journalist Union protesting against underground elements habitually resorting to intimidation to members of the union has today blacked out all its editorials.
The union has been facing unwanted predicament from time to time as a result of various armed groups intruding into the rights of the media and imposing upon them their (UGs) usually biased term.
Most recently, on Friday night, unidentified callers threatened to ban' most of the newspapers registered under MHJU, if they fail to abide by dictated terms.
MHJU already has held sit in protest against such intimidation by armed elements for almost a week last year and yet again, all offices of MHJU registered papers today closed their offices to protest the conduct of various armed outfits.
As a result MHJU's five newspapers will not be hitting the stand tomorrow.
This campaign is in addition to the blackout of all editorials in today's issue.
