A public meeting held today at Hotel Excellency with president of Poirei Leimarol L Memchoubi, AMUCO advisor Th Iboyaima, chairman Nagaram Meira Paibi KS Rely, president of Kuki Women Movement for Human Rights, Tengnoupal Area Lalam Mate and president of the United Manipuri Muslim Women Development Organisation Anwari Nurjahan as presidium members has urged upon all concerned to bring an amicable solution to the Langol Laimanai issue, conveyed a joint press release.
The public meeting was participated by representatives of 38 civil societies and Meira Paibi organisations from across the State.
The meeting unanimously condemned in the strongest manner the incident of Langol Laimanai in which innocent persons were killed and crippled by some armed persons.
To urge the group concerned to provide compensation to the victimised and displaced families of Langol Laimanai was one of the resolutions adopted during the meeting.
It also resolved to appeal to the group concerned to allow resettlement of the displaced families together with the few families still staying at Langol Laimanai peacefully.
Another resolution of the public meeting was to urge all concerned to bring an amicable and lasting solution to the Langol Laimanai issue within a week so that no ugly repercussion follows the incident and that the president of Poirei Leimarol is no longer intimidated.
If no positive response comes forward within the week, a strong people's movement will be launched, resolved the representatives unanimously.
