State lad makes a name in interior designing

Imphal, February 01: Despite the fact that interior designing is yet to catch the popular imagination of the people of Manipur, a young State native has successfully ventured into the field with elan creating a mark of his own.

Creative and innovative as he is, Suresh Huidrom of Khurai Salanthong was honoured with a 24 carat gold medal at Hotel Hindustan International, Kolkata yesterday.

The felicitation function was held in connection with the 20th convocation of Ex-In Private Ltd having its corporate offices in 11 Indian cities including Kolkata besides 5 others abroad.

Suresh Huidrom is the first from the North Eastern States to succesfully foray into the profession of interior designing.

After completing a professional course of one year and a half at the Exterior and Interior Pvt Ltd, Bangalore in high grade, Suresh again topped a national level competition in interior designing.

In the final round of Interior Designing held on February 11 last year at Grand Hyatt, Mumbai, Suresh beat competitors from prestigious institutions like the National Institute of Designing, Ahmedabad, JJ School of Architecture, Mumbai etc.

For his extraordinary creativity, Suresh was awarded the Interior Designing Trophy in residential category by the Durian Society, Mumbai.

Further, he was honoured with Excellence Design Award by Formica on October 18 last year at Chola Sheraton, Chennai during the South Zone Convocation.

Many cash awards also came on the way to his sparkling career.

Born to Huidrom Iboyaima and Leibakleima, Suresh did his graduation from Modern College.

Though he is only 32, Suresh is serving at Gopalan Enterprises, Bangalore as Senior Interior Designer in addition to being a Visualiser Consultant of Bearys Group, Bangalore.

The young designer had presented a paper in the "International Conference on Indo-Arab Relationship: Partnership and Development" on November 13 and 14 last year at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
