AR-UG exchange fire at Kumbi

Imphal, March 13: Exchange of firing took place between the personnel of 7 Assam Rifles and armed underground activists at Kumbi Leirak Achouba in Bishnupur district at around 8.30 am today causing panic among the local residents.

According to SP in-charge of Bishnupur Police Jayanta, the AR personnel were on patrol duty when they were fired upon by the UGs.

The security personnel also retaliated the firing, However, there is no report of any casualty.

After the gun-battle, the AR personnel cordoned off the area and launched an operation.

Though no one was arrested apart from recovering some empty cartridges.
