Imphal, March 03:
Categorically rejecting DESAM's contention that authorities (invigilators) of Presidency College, Motbung are not committed enough to check mass copying in the ongoing HSSLC examination, students' union of the College, Motbung Village Authority, Senapati District Meetei Social Development Committee (Motbung) and Motbung Youth club described the allegation as malicious and baseless.
Reacting to news report published in state dailies (march 2) regarding DESAM's claim that invigilators deputed in Presidency College centre to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the HSSLC examination had been found derelicting duty when an inspection team of the student body visited the exam centre, the Motbung based bodies clarified that exams are being conducted fairly and properly in strict compliance with prescribed rules and regulations.
All the invigilators on duty have done their duty seriously and sincerely and the Exam Monitoring Committee formed to implement quality exam did not find any irregularities, said the bodies in separate press statements while maintaining that the Committee provided no chace to any candidate to resort to unfair means.
Ruling out question of mass copying on the said day as alleged by DESAM, they informed of the Council's fly squad members staying vigil at the Motbung centre throughout the entire day (March 1) with regular inspection of classrooms.
Terming the DESAM allegation as totally false, the Motbung bodies counter-charged that DESAM volunteers without obtaining permission from authority concerned barged into the exam rooms thereby disturbing mental preparedness of the candidates/examinees.
Taking serious note of such undesired conduct on the part of the DESAM volunteers the bodies affirmed that such student body would not be 'welcomed' with immediate effect.
Pointing out that hill guardians and youth leaders are determined to provide quality education and there is no room to entertain use of unfair means, the bodies observed that attempt to label Presidency College as a lenient exam centre is merely a campaign to tarnish not only the good image of the institution but to destroy one of few Government college in the hill area.
