Kohima, January 21:
The BJP in the north eastern India is gearing up for the forthcoming Lok Sabha (LS) election and is confident to defeat the main rival Congress in the polls.
The party is fully prepared large scale election campaign kick-off starting from January 23 to the first week of next month throughout the country including Nagaland.
Over hundred rallies and other meetings of intellectuals in 75 places would be held throughout the country including Nagaland as part of its (BJP) massive election campaign kick-off, North-East BJP in-charge V Satish told reporters here at Nagaland BJP Units office today.
The Congress would be totally marginalized on the coming hustings in the north eastern region, North-East BJP Chief said adding the Congress would not get more than 4 seats out of the total 25 seats in the north eastern States including Sikkim.
Because, he explained, the party (Congress) is symbolized of misrules, misutilization of Central funds, quota permit raj, under development of employments, etc. He also said Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee during recently held North East Business Summit in Delhi informed that there were complaints of misutilization of Central funds in Congress rule States in the region.
Holding the Congress Government in Assam responsible for infiltration problems and its subsequent demographic issue in the region, the North East BJP Chief said, We will take opportunity this coming election to expose their (Congress) misrules, mismanagement of Central funds and ever deteriorated law and order problems especially in Manipur and Assam. Satish also disclosed that they were planning to bring out a Charge Sheet statement of the Congress misrules before the LS election.
At the same time, we are preparing to bring out White Papers of our 5-year achievements and that of 50-year achievements of Congress in the country for the people judge, he stated.
He said Congress in Assam had earlier banked on the minorities and tea garden laborers but they had terribly failed to fulfill their promises.
These minorities as well as tea garden laborers were now extremely dissatisfied with their (Congress Government) activities, the North East BJP Chief pointed out.
Welcoming North East Peoples Forum (NEPS)s recent move to support National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, Satish explained that details of seat sharing with any other like minded political parties were yet to be finalized.
The seat sharing process would be finalized in the third week of next month, he added.
He, however, stated informal consultations with like minded political parties in the region were on but added that after the consultations with the party high command, final shape on the seat sharing position should be drawn up.
Satish also said wherever BJP had got chances to win, they would go alone but the places where they had slim chances to win, they would support other like minded candidates.
He, however, said BJP would fill both LS seats in Manipur and further expressed confidence that they would win easily this time.
As of now in Assam, no political parties had approached BJP for seat sharing for the upcoming Parliamentary election.
