Reacting to the news item published under the caption 'Yet another blot on PMT' in the June 14 edition of this paper, Commissioner of Health, AR Khan has clarified there was no discrepancy in the Manipur MBBS/BDS Entrance Examination, 2004.In a statement made available to the press, the Health Commissioner noted that the candidate in question Chinglen Takhellambam (roll no 1478) who scored only 100 marks in the entrance examination applied for re-checking his answer script.
However, when the Selection Board exercised the re-checking process on June 11 morning, it was, found out that the candidate committed a mistake in darkening the circle for the Question Booklet Series Code of the question paper allotted to him.
The candidate was allotted Question with Code 'B', but he actually darkened the circle for 'C' series, AR Khan informed.
The evaluation of the answers by the computer was done on the basis of the circle darkened by the candidate and he was awarded 100 marks which was correct, he said.
He further informed that the answer sheet scan image in the computer was also shown to the father of the student as well as to the student on June 11 in the office of the Chairman of the Selection Board (Commissioner (Health) as the Commissioner (Health) was informed by the Advocate General acting on the directive given by the High Court.
