Imphal, June 11: The demand for upgradation of Sadar Hills into full-fledged revenue district is a decade long one and it is meant for easy administration and all round development of the people of Sadar hills.

Stating this in joint statement, president/chairman of Kangpokpi Youth Club and president/chairpersons of Women Welfare Association, Kangpokpi said that it deplorable that Sadar Hills has remained a backward area because of neglect and discrimination.

There are no medical facilities or hospital worth the name, the road communication is very poor and when there is the district wise distribution of development fund, the case of Sadar Hills go by default, the joint statement said.

Moreover, the statement added alleging that the DRDA which has been entrusted with local and rural development works cannot do any justice for an area where there is no separate fund allocation.

Sadar hills also do not stand any chance for establishment of Navodaya School.

Apart from these, the statement further pointed out, there are so much disadvantage of being under Senapati District.

Elaborating, it said, people find it difficult to go there and stay freely for any work.

Even for having names to be forwarded for recruitment/employment for jobs from district authorities, the difficulties faced are tremendous.

Added to this is the gradual erosion of power already confer on the offices in Sadar Hills because of shifting of and opening up of new offices like taxation check post, horticulture, social welfare, tribal development, FCS offices from Sadar Hills Headquarters to Sekmai and Saitu Gamphajol, Sapermeina, etc.

The attitude of the present Government is against the will of the Sadar Hills people and playing a policy to disunite the people of Sdar hills among themselves, the statement alleged.
