Imphal, September 15:
Undoubtedly the largest orange producing area of the State, Tamenglong district today is facing an invasion of orange plant diseases which could have adverse effect on production volume unless radical prevention measure is not adopted, said Shalom Agro-Horticulture Society, Longzang (Thangal) village of Nungba sub- division.
Stating that Longzang village among all Tamenglong district areas had been producing the largest volume of orange every year and makes enormous contribution toward successful organisation of Orange Festival held every December, the Society expressed that such contribution might not be possible this time around due to onset of diseases.
Elaborating on the disease the Society described the infected citrus crops as resembling yellowish leaves, die-back, powdery mildew etc.
