Imphal, October 30 2008:
All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) and Democratic Students'Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) have warned that the two student bodies will launch intense agitation with the support of general public from November 11 if the State Government does not terminate the chairman, secretary and examination controller of Board of Secondary Education Manipur from their respective posts by November 10 .
It was conveyed by DESAM general secretary Y Ratan and AMSU secretary general Premananda Tongbram at a press conference held at DESAM headquarters today.
Premananda Tongbram said that it came to light during an investigation conducted by the two students bodies that many of this year's Matric Old Course students filled up examination forms using fake documents.
The Board kept these students in withheld/cancel following AMSU/DESAM's pressure, said Premananda and added that the Board however recently declared results for some of these withheld/cancel students suggesting of something cooking between Board authorities and these students, which is totally against the 'quality education' campaign of the two bodies.
The two students bodies therefore demand termination of chairman, secretary and examination controller of the Board, he added.
Premananda further said that as there are lots of inarticulate points in the report tabled by one-man H Bihari Committee, the Board must institute a bigger committte to probe into the matter.
Taking part in the press conference, Y Ratan also demanded for termination of pricipals/headmasters who were involved in the goof up.
He also urged the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur not to allow these students to take admission in any of the Council's affiliated institutions.
The Council must not issue any document to these students relating to take admission outside the State, Ratan warned.
Ratan also demanded to declare the results for these students invalid and not to issue certificates to them.
He also pressed to detain those involved under National Security Act (NSA).
