Resuming his inspection tour of development works being taken up in different parts of the State, Works Minister K Ranjit turned his attention to the ongoing construction work of mini-Secretariat complex at Porompat and bridge construction works in Imphal.
Talking to reporters during his inspection tour, Ranjit said that no money will be given to contractors if proper quality is not maintained in the construction of the mini-Secretariat complex being taken up under Additional Central Assistance at the estimated cost of Rs 24.5 crores.
Moreover the contractors will be asked to construct the complex anew.
If proper quality is maintained, the whole liabilities will be released at once, he assured.
Of the 5 blocks which would comprise the complex, three blocks are slated for completion next year.
Further, concerned officers have instructed to shift away the Veterinary and SDO offices located within the complex, conveyed Ranjit.
The first three block which began construction in 2004 is nearing completion while the last two blocks began construction only this year.
In the first phase, Rs 12 crores has already been sanctioned while the remaining amount are expected next year.
After inspecting the Lamlong bridge constructed under the NLCPR of DoNER Ministry at the cost of Rs 4.54 crores, the Works Minister assured that the bridge will be commissioned in March, next year.
The Keishamthong bridge being constructed under NLCPR at the estimated cost of Rs 3.46 crores will be inaugurated before March, next year, he said after personally inspecting the construction work.
Saying that construction of Singjamei bridge which cost Rs 3.69 crores has been completed, he informed that there are certain problems in making approach road on the Western side.
Nevertheless, he disclosed that the State Government has plans to shift the existing market (near the approach road) to Singjamei Super Market after constructing a market shed there and to shift back later to the betel leave market with construction of a traffic intersection.
The Works Minister rounded up his inspection tour at EE Store Division (PWD), Mantripukhri where preparations are being made for installation of a hot-mix plant.
