Senapati, September 28: The two day workshop cum training on Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) commenced at Mao-Maram Hr Sec School, Tadubi, Senapati today with resource persons, representatives of Village Education Committees, HEC leaders, school headmasters, educationists, community leaders, representatives of various clubs and NGOs taking part in it.

Student leaders members of women organisations of the Mao and Mar-am community were also present.

The SSA workshop began with an inuagural function with Tadubi SDO/BDO Ashok Kumar as the chief guest and Senapati ZEO/DPO CB Paudyal Senapati as the functional president.

welcoming the participants and dignitaries, Tadubi Block's DI/BEO P Daikho Tadubi said that the workshop will bring bright vision especially in the field of education in the area.

He appealed to the participants to actively participate in the event as it will help the community solve education related problems.

CB Paudyal detailed objectives, aims, programme strategies, habitations, public-private partnership in SSA, financial norms, functions of VEC, early childhood care and education, facilities available under SSA, etc.

The programme president also prevailed upon the gathering to understand the value and significance of the Scheme for the people in the area and urged the masses to utilise its opportunity without any profit-making motive but purely based on sacrificial spirit for the welfare of the people.

The chief guest Ashok Kumar said SSA is a multi-dimensional scheme for the people "so make full use of the opportunity in implementing the scheme".

He asked the participating trainees to learn and share the experience gained in the workshop to uplift morality, educational and over all development of the people.

After the formal function, training session started with various well trained and subject specialised resource person deliberating on various relevant topics including "Quality improvement of Education and Role of Community in monitoring Activities", "Salient Features of EGS/AIE, Universal Elementary Education" and "Major Component of SSA and Financial Managament".

The objective of Sarva Shiksha Abiyan is to facilitate all children acheive five years of primary schooling by 2007, complete eight years of elementary schooling by 2010 with focus on elementary education of satisfactory quality with particular emphasis on education for life and bridge all existing gender and social category gaps at primary stage by 2007 and at elementary education level by 2010 and universal retention by 2010.
