Imphal, April 26: While strongly condemning the action of the security guards posted at A-Block, Manipur University on general secretary Students' Union DM College of Teachers' Education Y Somendro Singh today , an emergency meeting of the Union held latter in the evening has decided to boycott the final year examination of the teacher trainees which is commencing from tomorrow.

The meeting also decided to launch a hunger strike tomorrow and appealed to all those candidates come to the college campus within 8.30 am tomorrow to surrendered their admit cards and join in the agitation.

Talking to mediapersons, spokesman of the Union Aftar Hussain informed that in pursuance of their demands the teacher trainees of the DM College of Teachers' Education have been on strike since April 7.The demands include appointment of a regular principal, development of the existing infrastructures of the college, retaining of the examination centre at the college itself and completion of the syllabus before fixing the date of the examination.

The demands of the agitating teacher trainees have also been highlighted to the Manipur University and the Government of Manipur.

As no positive response has been forthcoming, the trainees have gone to the A-Block to meet the authorities of the Manipur University.

But the security guards posted the beaten up the general secretary, the spokesman claimed.

The VC and the Controller of Manipur University should be responsible for the action of the security guards on the general secretary and the boycott of the examination would remain until and unless, the VC and the Controller took up proper action in this connection, the spokesman added.
