Moreh, September 25:
'Every community living in border town of Moreh which is an important trade centre not only for Manipur but also for the country and South Asian region should work together for peace and all round development'.
This was stated by MANIDCO Chairman N Mangi Singh while speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of a five day long residential camp being organised in connection with the 111th birth anniversary observance of of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Kongdong Lairembi Haraobung , Moreh yesterday.
The event is being organised jointly by Meetei Council, Moreh; Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup, Moreh and All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Chandel District Committee.
Mangi said that the philosophy and the vision of Hijam Irabot was not only for the Meiteis but for all the communities living in Manipur.
So in order to realise the dream of a unified and developed Manipur as envisioned by Irabot, the multi-ethnic groups of people living in the border town should join hands together.
MLA Bijoy Koijam presided over the function which was also attended by general secretary of Hill Tribal Council, Moreh Ginsei Lhungdim; SDC Moreh Ph Ibohal Singh; M Kondum Meetei and S Lila Singh as guests of honour.
General secretary of Hill Tribal Council, Moreh Ginsei Lhungdim and ,SDC Moreh Ph Ibohal Singh were also among those also spoke on the life and the works of Irabot.
The five-day long residential camp is being under the theme of "Spirit of United Nationalism".
The camp would continue till September 30.
