Imphal, August 25 2010: State and Central security forces have arrested atleast 11 activists of different armed groups from various places in the past 38 hours.

A statement of Senior SP (IW) L Kailun said district police commandos arrested two RPF/PLA activists namely Abojam Kunjo Singh (550 s/o A Ibomcha singh of Mayang Imphal Thana Maning Leikai from near Shanti Guest Hostel of Thangal Bazar and Yumnam Premkumar alias Naocha alias Bet Singh (35) s/o (L) Ibohal Singh of Sagolband Nepram Major Mamang Leikai from near Sagolband Moirang Leirak water supply scheme.

working under the commando of Ibomcha of RPF/PLA's Finance section, A Kunjo collected huge amount of money from RIMS, Govt schools and departments and handed over the sum to Ibomcha, the SSP release informed adding that one Nokia handset has been recovered from Kunjo, who was arrested at around 6.40 pm on August 24 .

regarding arrest of Y premkumar at around 8.30 am yesterday, the SSP maintained that the UG activist joined PLA in 1994 through one Chitaranjan and worked under the command of S/S Sgt Maj Nando of Nambol Phoijing.

Apart from recruiting one Hitler of Sagolband in 2007, Premkumar was reportedly involved in extortion of money from private tuition centre, Govt departments and the general public.

In another incident, A joint security team of Thoubal district police commandos and troops of 21 Assam Rifles nabbed one KCP cadre from Kakching Khunou yesterday.

The cadre has been identified as Gangaram Lakandi (30) s/o late Bahadur Lakandi of Serou Part-II.

On questioning, the cadre revealed that he is an active member of the outfit working in the finance section, said a release issued by Thoubal Senior SP .

Meanwhile, troops of Assam rifles and Maratha Light Infantry have apprehended four PREPAK, one KCP (Nando), one NNW (PSG) and an NSCN (IM) activists from Imphal East/West, Thoubal and Ukhrul district areas since yesterday.

A PRO IGAR (S) release said troops of 28 AR and 12 MLI launched search operations in Singjamei, Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak and Wangkhei Ayangpalli Thongkhong areas during which one PREPAK activist and two others were arrested on August 14 and 15 respectively.

The apprehended individuals have been identified as Shantham Rome Singh (28) s/o Sh Achou Singh of Sekmaijin Thongam, Maibam Shivananda alias Taj Singh (30) s/o M Tombi Singh of Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak and Loukrakpam Docha alias Nandakumar Meitei (31) s/o L Diramangol Meitei of Wangkhei Ayangpalli Thongkhong.

One US carbine with magazine, one 9 mm live round, one AK-47 rifle, a lethode gun, three magazines of AK-47, 165 live rounds, a .32 pistol with magazine and a live round and a Chinese hand-grenades have been recovered from the possession of the three, the PRO release listed.

Troops of 28 Assam Rifles also arrested a KCP (Nando) activist namely Md Riyajuddin alias Lebocha (30) s/o (L) Md Rahimuddin of Kiyamgei Mayai Leikai from Lilong Bazar area at around 9.30 pm of August 24 while Ar troops of 9 Sector based in Thoubal district nabbed a PREPAK cadre identified as Puyam Inaocha alias Roch (25) s/o P Ningthemton of Langathel Leikhom Bazar on August 23 at around 11.30 am.

One 9 mm pistol with magazine and four live rounds and a Chinese grenade have been recovered from the possession of Inaocha, who has been handed over to Kakching police station, the PRO added.

It is also informed that 10 Sector AR troops located at Ukhrul apprehended an NNW (PSG) cadre namely Yaokhaiek (30) s/o Risincson of tuinem village in Ukhrul district and NSCN (IM)'s AS Jacob (58) s/o Mahesing of Tangkhul Hungdung village.

Both were arrested during the course of search operations launched at Phungcham Road junction and Viewland areas of the district.

Two country made pistol with four live rounds, one grenade, five magazines, 500 kgs of ganja and a Mahindra Jeep (NL05/1532) have been listed as items recovered from the possession of the two, according to the PRO IGAR (S) release adding that both have been handed over to Porompat police station.
