MLA of Sugnu assembly constituency K Ranjit has distributed the MLA Local Area Development Fund to the people directly.
In a simple function held today at Thumkhong Lairembi ground of Waikhong, PDA Chairman K Ranjit said that he is just a 'peon' of the people while adding that he only brought the fund sanctioned by the State Government to the people of the constituency.
He appealed to the people to take up developmental works sincerely and to complete them in time.
There he handed a sum of Rs 2 lakhs to the people to construct two community halls at different places.
The MLA also provided Rs 1.26 lakhs for construction of community hall at Umathel, Rs 1 lakh for Kakching Khunou, Rs 1 lakh for Kakching Khunou Tampakyum, Rs 45,000 to Kakching Khunou Hijam Leikai, another Rs 30,000 to repair Kakching Khunou Chinghoo dam, Rs 3.18 lakhs to repair the road from Wangoo Sabal to Wangoo Heinoujam and for construction of community hall and crematorium, Rs 30,000 for extension of community hall at Pangantabi and another Rs 50,000 for construction of crematorium at Wangoo Chithek Leikai.
In addition, a sum of Rs 70,000 from his salaries of three months was handed over to the people for construction of community hall at Chakpikarong Khutpi and for Church extension at Toupokpi.
During a public meeting at Kakching Khunou Bazar on June 19, MLA Ranjit clarified that the Union Government has put off all delimitation work till 2025.He asserted that the previous representatives of the constituency not only failed to take up developmental works in the assembly segment but also forfeited all the development funds sanctioned for the constituency.
Acknowledging the support of people in the development works being taken up in the last 3/4 years, Ranjit also extended his gratitude to the people.
