Imphal, February 22:
In connection with the snatching of EVM from 6/5 polling station of Keirao A/C on polling day on February 14 and subsequent recovery of the EVM next day, polling agents of three candidates of Keirao A/C have lodged complaints to the RO demanding that the same EVM be used in counting votes.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club today CPI agent Maibam Ibohal, agent of independent candidate Ningthoujam Itomba MSCP agent S Surendra said that the EVM of 6/5 polling station was snatched away when the presiding officer had sealed the EVM after the votes were cast.
As the snatched away EVM was recovered the next day without any damage, the agents contended that same EVM instead of the one used in re-polling on February 16 should be used in counting votes.
They also appealed to the authority concerned to declare the votes re-polled on February 16 invalid.
In case the RO does not respond to their complaints before February 27, the agents said that they would take recourse to legal action.
