Ukhrul, September 21:
In an effort to streamline administration and promote closer co-ordination and relationships amongst the tribal/Hill people of Manipur Chairman of Hill Area Committee (HAC) MLA Thangminlien Kipgen made a maiden visit to the district today.
During the chairman's visit an official discussion and interaction programme was held at the office of Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (UADC), wherein, the MLA fervently appealed to officials, staff of the UADC to be sincere while executing their entrusted tasks so as to ensure the common masses reap fruit of development.
As chairman of the UADC, Pankaj Kumar Pal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner gave the welcome address while Ningam Chamroy, Chief Executive Officer UADC highlighted position of UADC stating that out of the five Blocks in the District there are 10,925 students enlisted under the UADC and these students had been enduring lack of teachers as over 603 post of teachers are yet to be filled in specially in the primary education level.
The CEO also highlighted nearly 123 posts of chowkidars laying vacant that had been imperilling proper functioning of schools and safeguarding office property.
On the medical front one additional Medical officer is required for area coverage of dispensaries and another Veterinary officer for coverage of Veterinary dispensaries, he noted.
Moreover, UADC drew the attention of the HAC chairman regarding immediate necessity for repairing the existing UADC building that houses several other departments.
the chairman was accompanied by MLAs Danny Shaiza, Dr.Kashim Luivah, Awangpo Newmai and Hankhanlian .
Meanwhile, Y.Erabot, Food and civil supply (FCS) Minister also visited Ukhrul and inspected the FCS Godown at Somsai.
He will be staying overnight in the district headquarters.
