The Kuki Chiefs Association, Chandel district has strongly condemned the killing of Evangelist Thongkhomang Touthang (57) at around 10 am of November 16 by a landmine explosion at Khengjoi area of Chandel district allegedly planted by underground outfits, conveyed a press release issued by the Association.
Noting that planting of land mines was an act of terror perpetrated by UG cadres, it observed that Thongkhomang was the 26th victim of landmine explosion since 2001 in the district.
Taking strong exception to the failure of the Government to sanitise the area of landmines, the Kuki Chief's Association, Chandel district urged the Government to clear the land mines planted in the hill areas of Chandel district at the earliest.
It further asked the State Government its point of view and plans concerning the victims of land mines and their families.
